What is myIR and how do sole traders use it?

myIR is Inland Revenue's secure online portal at myir.ird.govt.nz. It is the main way New Zealand sole traders manage their tax affairs online. Through myIR you can: - File your IR3 income tax return - View and pay your tax bills - File GST returns - Pay provisional tax instalments - Update your contact details and bank account for refunds - View your tax history and correspondence from IR - Apply to set up an instalment arrangement if you can't pay in full - Access your income summaries from all sources To use myIR, you need to register with your IRD number and verify your identity. You can log in with your myIR username and password, or through RealMe (New Zealand's digital identity system) or through some banks. Setting up myIR is strongly recommended for all sole traders — it simplifies filing and gives you a complete picture of your tax position at any time.
